This shelf was born from tinkering with two U shapes. It is intended to address the use of typical hardwood scraps: poplar for painted millwork and red oak for staingrade millwork. After several versions of intertwining, one became the structural base while the other became the main shelf with a solid back. It’s a piece investigating orthogonal balance.
